Khuvsgul lake
The Khuvsgul lake is perhaps the most beautiful lake in Mongolia. Known as the Blue Pearl, it is located in Khatgal sum, Khuvsgul Province (approx 900km away from the capital Ulaanbaatar)
The lake itself can provide 70 percent of fresh water source in Mongolian land. Khuvsgul lake covers an area of 2760sq km, 136km long, and 262m deep.
One of the fascinating activities at Khuvsgul is the ice festival which usually takes place in March. Ice carving, traditional performances, horse sledding, dog sledding, ice skating and lots of fun events and opportunities.
The lake is one of the major domestic and international travel destinations. Every summer thousands of locals and foreigners come here especially during the Naadam festival in mid July.
Khuvsgul is absolutely the best place for leisure activities such as boating, kayaking, horse riding, hiking, camping, cycling and so on.
